In the First Place: Why Public Debate Is Usually Pointless

What are the pillars of our society?

Those who make decisions on our behalf, those who enforce those decisions and those who report them to us:

Government
Churches
The military
The media

They are all institutions whose existences are based on beliefs they do not accept
any dissension from.

Government – we are legitimate and all of our actions are legitimate
Churches – our dogma is correct and you will be punished in the next life if you disobey
The military – our wars are justified and you are not patriotic if you say otherwise
The media – what we say is true, we hide nothing important and if you disagree, you are a nut.

The institutions control public discussion by labeling thoughts that would harm their existence.  The following questions will never be answered by any of these pillars:

Government – What is national security and what types of information are really hidden to the public for this reason?
Churches – Can you prove that the leader of your religion really existed?
The military – How many soldiers would you recruit if you told them the truth about why we were sending them to war?
The media – How often are you pressured into dropping stories and who pressures you?

To get these questions answered, we need another actor to join the debate.  Many fear the institutions and their enormous power and do not ask why our society functions as it does.

But we need the questions answered.

Almost every debate, whether about something like guns (especially in light of recent reported shootings in the national news) or butter (like the perpetual debate of how much money to devote to the military) starts off with at least one of the false beliefs stated above.  In short, the debate gets it wrong IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Be a part of a public that reasonably questions what we hear.  Disregard those who state beliefs but do not back them up or who refuse to answer your questions.  This is how we collectively will get these questions answered.  Then we can discuss the details.

We Are Them

There is only us

We all live in society

Some of us have lots of power and wealth

Most of us do not

Those with power and wealth want to keep it and get more

Power and wealth is attractive and who among us turns it down?

Few of us would

Few of us pass up opportunities to make more money or to gain more power

Are we that much different from those in power?

We are as quick to judge as we are to dismiss the powerful

We have seen the disguise of the powerful

The lies, the fall guys, the alibis

Who among us does not cover up things we do?

The powerful simply have more to cover

There is little power when truths are inconveniently revealed

So some of us have power

And some of us want to change those in power

But we do not know the powerful

We barely know ourselves

So nothing changes

We Have Lost the Battle for 9/11 Truth But We Will Win the War

We may not win the battle of identifying all of the criminals of 9/11 but that should not surprise us.
What I have said about the events of 9/11 is not a secret.  Those with open minds and a desire to discern facts discover the truth of what I and many others say on a daily basis.

The criminals of 9/11, the Kennedy brother murders and other events are merely a faction that uses the power of the government without authority.  And they use that power to stay outside of anyone's reach.

Official theories have been given to us by the faction, their enablers in politics and the media.  Most of the public readily accept them because the same people who propose the official theory have control over opposition to it.

These theories never go before a court of law and become subject to cross-examination.  The chosen forum for the theories, the mainstream media of television, radio, etc. simply deliver the news given (i.e. what is official) and not critique of this news.

As a result, the burden of proof to the average member of the public runs low, to the point of plausibility.  Those of us who demand a higher burden of proof will keep banging our heads against this wall as long as the official theories reach us in the manner they do.

We may not win the battle of identifying all of the criminals of 9/11 but that should not surprise us.  We have engaged in a game without rules, teams or a finish line.

All is not lost.  Thanks to those who have raised and even answered questions about controversial events have inspired awareness that the public does not always receive the truth.  We are now more than ever likely to seek information about a wide range of topics, such as medicine, food, and history.

We should all continue to seek the information we need to help ourselves and to help the society in which we live.  The real game of creating a society that outs the criminal faction will be won by those who take the time to educate themselves about anything they think matters.

The Greatest Lesson We Should Learn from 9/11

2/12/2012

_ We should learn how easily the public can be convinced of something that touches them emotionally.  Almost everyone on September 11, 2001 reported the same sense of shock about the attacks, the same sense of sadness about the victims and the same sense of anger toward the perpetrators.

We should know by now to be careful to guard our judgments about events in which our leaders may well have reason to mislead us.  Recent history has shown us a number of official lies, for example, President Lyndon Johnson’s acceptance of Israel’s explanation that it made a “mistake” in bombing the U.S.S. Liberty in 1967, President Reagan’s insistence that “we did not -- repeat did not -- trade weapons or anything else for hostages nor will we” and President George W. Bush’s persistent claim of “weapons of mass destruction” in Iraq.

We should learn the value in deciding for ourselves how to respond to false statements made by our leaders and to reason to what extent it matters.  The key is to understand why the lie is told.

President Johnson did not want to alienate the strong pro-Israeli support he had by publicly accusing Israel of acting with knowledge that it struck a United States ship.  President Reagan likely could not believe that people in his Administration would resort to a wild ploy of selling weapons to the Ayatollah in Iran.  President Bush wanted a war with Iraq and was willing to sell the idea with lies.

So why did our leaders lie about the events of 9/11?

One need only to look at the consequences of each lie told.

The naming of Osama bin Laden as the leader of the attacks gave our leaders a scapegoat that the public could focus on instead of upon our government.

The allegations of hijackers taking over airplanes and crashing them allowed our leaders to portray the attacks in an emotional, even numbing way.

The identification of passengers with their pictures convinced the public that people really died in airplane crashes.  It was again the use of emotion over facts, facts that could not support commercial airplane crashes.

The story itself serves as a psychological operation to instill fear in the public about something almost all of us have done: take an airplane flight.

The greatest lesson of all is the awareness that anything could happen in the future and that we will not likely receive any warning that our leaders are lying to us.  Our greatest gift to ourselves and to others is our ability to think for ourselves.
